How to File a Complaint
If you believe you've been stopped, detained, or searched because of your race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or membership in a protected group, you can file a complaint in one of two ways:
- Contact the police department where the officer works. You can usually find complaint forms at the police station or on their website.
- Contact the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO): Website: https://portal.ct.gov/chro
Complaints filed with the police will be investigated following the department's procedures. After the investigation, the Chief State’s Attorney’s Office will review the complaint and its outcome to decide if any further actions are needed.
Instrucciones para presentar una queja
Si usted cree que ha sido detenido, parado o registrado por su raza, etnia, edad, género, orientación sexual, religión o por ser parte de una clase protegida, puede presentar una queja de dos maneras:
